Celebrating 2024’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Gaming, Africa: Fundi Sithebe

Fundi Sithebe is a dynamic and visionary leader currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of 4Racing, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

With a career dedicated to driving transformation and operational excellence, Fundi is committed to fostering a sustainable and inclusive environment within the horse racing and gaming industries. Her leadership prioritizes community impact, particularly focusing on uplifting previously disadvantaged individuals (PDI) in the sector while embracing the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Appointed as the inaugural CEO of 4Racing in June 2021, Fundi has embarked on a mission to modernize and elevate the organization. Her strategic vision is directed towards stabilizing and growing the business, ensuring it positively impacts the communities involved. Under her stewardship, 4Racing emphasizes partnership development as a core aspect of its corporate strategy, positioning itself as a leader in responsible and inclusive practices within the industry. Fundi’s efforts aim to transform the horse racing landscape while enriching the lives of those connected to it.

Before her current role, Fundi amassed extensive leadership experience in various sectors. She served as the Chief Operating Officer at Airports Company South Africa from December 2017 to April 2021, where she honed her skills in operational management and strategic oversight. Prior to this, she was the Chief of Staff at the same organization for nearly three years, facilitating key initiatives and ensuring smooth operations at the executive level. Fundi’s career also includes time as a Project Consultant with her own consulting service from 2012 to 2015, during which she provided strategic guidance to a variety of clients.

Fundi’s previous roles further include serving as the Executive Assistant to the CEO at FirstRand Group and working as Protocol Manager during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. 

Fundi Sithebe holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of the Witwatersrand, completed in 2001, and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Midrand University in 2000. 

In addition to her role at 4Racing, Fundi also serves as an interim board member for South African Airways since May 2023.
