Ghana’s National Lottery Authority Charts Major Reform Course for 2026

The National Lottery Authority of Ghana (NLA) has announced a broad set of reforms scheduled for 2026 as part of efforts to modernise its operations, strengthen governance and and rebuild public confidence in the country’s lottery ecosystem. According to the Authority, the reform programme will focus on improving internal governance systems, introducing new lottery products and upgrading institutional capacity through specialised training.

As far as the 2026 year is concerned, the National Lottery Authority of Ghana have set up to bring about a lot of reforms. We will be seeing reforms as far as the governance of the NLA is concerned. Again, we shall be introducing a lot more new products for the gaming public,” said Director-General Mohammed Abdul-Salam.

Capacity building is expected to play a key role in the reform agenda, particularly in areas linked to digital transformation. The Authority has already organised international training programmes covering cybersecurity and blockchain-based lottery administration. These sessions were held in Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco, exposing staff to emerging technologies and international best practices relevant to modern lottery operations.

One of the significant initiatives outlined for the year includes specialised training programmes focused on cybersecurity, as well as blockchain-based administration of lottery operations.These training sessions have been organised internationally, with one held in Côte d’Ivoire and another in Morocco. As part of preparations for the new year, we are also setting up committees to explore further training opportunities in other areas, including governance, operations and related fields, ” emphasized Abdul-Salam

The NLA also plans to broaden its internal development initiatives. Committees are being established to identify further training needs in governance, operations and related areas, as part of a wider effort to strengthen institutional effectiveness. The Authority believes these initiatives will contribute to improved service delivery and greater confidence among stakeholders and the gaming public.
