LONAGUI Reinforces Its Social Commitment With Prosthetic Support for Vulnerable Communities

The Loterie Nationale de Guinée (LONAGUI) marked a major milestone on January 29, 2026, by providing nine tailored prosthetic support limbs to Guineans living with limb loss. The initiative, carried out in partnership with the humanitarian NGO Aide aux Couches Sociales Fragiles (ACOSOF-Guinée), aims to restore mobility, dignity, and hope for some of the country’s most vulnerable citizens.

The selection process was rigorous. Each candidate underwent a full medical assessment, and custom fittings were conducted to ensure comfort and functionality. In addition to the equipment itself, beneficiaries received training on use and upkeep, rehabilitation support, and ongoing psychological and social guidance to aid full re-integration into community life.

The handover ceremony took place at the National Centre for Orthopaedics in Donka, with beneficiaries, their families, community partners, and health officials in attendance. Beneficiaries were selected through a collaborative evaluation process involving LONAGUI, ACOSOF-Guinée, and orthopaedic specialists to ensure that devices matched medical needs and individual circumstances.

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Pépé Tohonamou, President of ACOSOF-Guinée, said, “Thanks to the crucial support of the National Lottery of Guinea (LONAGUI), this project was launched to concretely transform these lives. Ten beneficiaries were carefully selected according to vulnerability criteria defined by a joint NGO-LONAGUI commission. Each of them received a complete medical evaluation and personalized equipment, adapted to their type of amputation and their specific needs. This includes 6 femoral prostheses and 4 tibial prostheses,” he explained.

Jackeline Coker, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), reflected on both the personal and institutional motivations behind the initiative: “This project originated from a personal and sincere request by a beneficiary present here today, who came to LONAGUI to seek assistance in replacing a prosthesis that had become unusable.

Although LONAGUI, as a public company, cannot grant individual donations, this situation deeply moved us. It prompted collective reflection, which led to the expansion of this initiative to ten (10) vulnerable beneficiaries, thanks to the ongoing support of the Director General for projects of this scale, perfectly aligned with the vision of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mamadi Doumbouya, ,” she commented.
