Mauritius Regulatory Authority Suspends Bet 593 Ltd Over Money Laundering Allegations

The Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) of Mauritius has mandated an immediate suspension on all betting operations for Bet 593 Ltd. According to a directive issued on 4 March 2026, the company must halt its local horse racing and international football betting services across all retail outlets and online platforms, requiring the company to cease all operations both on-site and remotely.
The suspension follows an internal investigation by the GRA into suspected money laundering activities. These findings were formally referred to the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC), resulting in the arrest of the company’s director on provisional charges for the offence of money laundering in breach of sections 36(1)(b), (4) and 38 of the Financial Crimes Commission Act 2023 coupled with section 4(1)(b) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Act.

The GRA has described the suspension as a precautionary and procedural measure. The primary goal of the immediate halt is to prevent the continuation of potentially illicit financial flows while the FCC considers the criminal case. This suspension is particularly significant as it affects both the sports and horse racing verticals, which generate the majority of the company’s revenue.
Bet 593 Ltd is a relatively recent addition to the Mauritian gambling landscape, having only obtained its licence around mid-2025. Following its entry into the market, the company increased its profile by sponsoring the Bicentenary Cup at the Mauritius Turf Club Junior Centre (MTCJC).
As of the latest reports, Bet 593 Ltd has yet to issue a public response regarding the suspension or the ongoing investigation.
