PowerLotto Champions Unified Regulations and Player Protection in Nigeria
At the recent Enugu Gaming Conference hosted by the Enugu State Gaming Commission, Chukwu Shadrack, Head of Marketing at PowerLotto, highlighted the company’s commitment to responsible gaming, compliance, and the benefits of regulatory unification.
Shadrack explained that PowerLotto is community-oriented and places strong emphasis on responsible gaming even as it works toward profitability. The company has implemented strict measures to prevent underage gambling, with age restrictions displayed across all adverts and its platform. It also avoids presenting gaming as overly glamorous, ensuring that players remain aware of potential risks.
To curb problem gambling, PowerLotto has invested in advanced technology that tracks user behavior and flags signs of addiction. When issues are detected, the company intervenes directly, reaching out to players and educating them about the dangers of excessive gambling. “We don’t want people getting addicted,” Shadrack stressed.

This year’s conference theme, “Unification to Diversification,” sparked discussions on harmonizing licensing and regulatory frameworks across the industry. Shadrack welcomed the idea, saying that a unified law would make compliance simpler for both operators and regulators. “With unification, we tend to operate with one unified law, which makes it easier to interpret and adhere to,” he said.
Shadrack further emphasized that compliance at PowerLotto is driven by integrity rather than fear of penalties. Even before officially going live, the company has already established systems and procedures to align with government regulations. “For us, it is not just about the payment or the fine, it is also the stigma that comes with it. I mean, we are regulated and have standard procedures that we are supposed to adhere to, and then we are committed to adhering to that strictly.”
