Spiro Partners with Gor Mahia to Drive Electric Vehicle Adoption in Kenya.

Spiro has signed Gor Mahia as its Official Electric Mobility Partner for the 2026/27 season.

The one-year partnership brings together Kenya’s largest electric mobility company and Kenya’s biggest football club under one roof. The partnership will see the motorbike company advocate for more e-bike adoptions within the country. This promoting greener climatic conditions as well as propelling its business across the wide Gor Mahia fanbase.

Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

What does Spiro do?

The company operates a swap-and-go model built on serving boda-boda riders . Famously, the motorcycle-taxi operators who dominate urban transport across Kenya. Its obvious that the most famous club in Nairobi, Gor Mahia’s, and its fanbase and that rider economy overlap heavily. A football sponsorship is, in effect, a targeted marketing channel to the exact demographic Spiro needs to convert from petrol.

Vishal Mittal, Country Head at Spiro Kenya said,“Football has an unmatched ability to connect people, communities and ideas. Gor Mahia’s reach and influence make the club an ideal partner. This comes as we continue expanding conversations around electric mobility in Kenya. As Gor Mahia’s Official Electric Mobility Partner, we look forward to engaging supporters across the country. As well as increasing awareness of electric mobility solutions and demonstrating how electric mobility can support everyday livelihoods and economic growth.”

Kenyan football clubs have long struggled to commercialize their support. Clubs Chairman, Ambrose Rachier framed the partnerships as part of an effort to shore up the club’s partnership revenue.

Richer said, “Football clubs today need strong partnerships to remain competitive and deliver value to their supporters. We are pleased to welcome Spiro Kenya as our Official Electric Mobility Partner and look forward to a relationship that supports the club’s ambitions while bringing supporters closer to the team through a range of engagement initiatives during the season.”

Club patron Eliud Owano positioned the partnership as an extension of the club’s community role. He said, “Gor Mahia has always been more than a football club.We are pleased to welcome Spiro Kenya into the Gor Mahia family. We look forward to a partnership that not only supports the club but also helps create greater awareness of electric mobility and its potential to positively impact communities across Kenya.”

The Strategic Structure of the Partnership!

The structure sets this apart from the shirt-front deals African clubs typically sign. Spiro isn’t marketing a consumer product to fans; it’s pitching a livelihood upgrade to a rider base that sits inside the fanbase .

This unique one-year sponsorship serves as a trial rather than a standard, long-term partnership. Success depends on whether the initiative drives a measurable increase in battery swaps within key fan strongholds. If effective, this strategy is likely to be adopted by rival clubs and e-mobility brands.
