Two New Lotto Millionaires in South Africa Claim Life-Changing Prizes

South Africa has welcomed two new millionaires following recent Lotto draws, with one winner claiming a colossal R19 million and another taking home R2.7 million. The news was reported by IOL on December 2, 2024, highlighting the life-changing impact of these windfalls.

The quest to identify the R19 million Lotto jackpot winner has finally concluded as the father of five claimed his winnings six days post-draw, which took place on November 20, 2024. In contrast, the female winner of R2.7 million wasted no time, coming forward just two days after her win during the draw on November 23, 2024.

Plans From the R19 Million Winner

Accompanied by his son and brother, the R19 million winner shared his humble lifestyle and future aspirations. Having stored his winning ticket under his mattress, he described himself as a “simple man” with no plans for drastic changes. He expressed his current living conditions, stating, “My children and I live in a two-bedroom house with an outside toilet. The younger ones sleep with me, while the older children sleep in the outside structure. I want to make home improvements and buy beds for my children.”

In addition to enhancing his home, the father intends to purchase his first car, build a house for his elderly mother, and secure a quality education for his children. He revealed his strategy for winning, saying, “I play the same numbers all the time, and this time, I noticed that my lucky numbers matched the winning numbers. I asked my son to go to the shop to get my ticket validated.”

Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of Ithuba, expressed excitement for the winner, stating, “We are overjoyed with this incredible win and share in our winner’s excitement. We are committed to supporting the winner by providing trauma and financial counseling to help him transition into his new life and make informed decisions about his newfound wealth.”

Plans of the R2.7 Million Winner

The second winner, who claimed R2.7 million, shared her ambition to construct a larger house for her family. Reports indicate that she purchased her ticket via a banking app, demonstrating the accessibility of the lottery to a broader audience.

Unclaimed Jackpot

Meanwhile, the National Lottery is still on the lookout for the winner of the R10.9 million Lotto Plus 2 jackpot, believed to be from Pietermaritzburg.
