The tournament draw has set the stage for competitive action, with Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC leading Pool B alongside Uganda’s Vipers SC, Burundi’s Flambeau du Centre, and South Sudan’s El Merreikh SC Bentiu. Meanwhile, Group C features Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman, Al Ahly SC Wad Madani, Mogadishu City Club (champions of the Somalia Premier League), and Kator SC from South Sudan.

Last year, Zambia’s Red Arrows, a guest team, triumphed over Rwanda’s APR FC on penalties to lift the title in Dar es Salaam, showcasing the tournament’s competitive spirit and regional appeal.

Named in honor of H.E. Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, the Kagame Cup has grown into a premier football event in East and Central Africa. Beyond the intense on-pitch battles, the tournament promotes sports diplomacy, cultural exchange, and regional unity, all driven by the love of football.
