Celebrating 2024’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Gaming, Africa: Sabrina Msuya

Sabrina Msuya is a distinguished marketing professional based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, widely recognized for her expertise in corporate communications, public relations, and government relations. With a solid foundation in telecommunications, media, and event management, she has established herself as a thought leader in the rapidly evolving African iGaming sector.

As a certified director and the Board Chair of the Tanzania Sports Betting Association, Sabrina plays a crucial role in shaping the industry narrative and advocating for responsible growth within the region.

Since January 2023, Sabrina has served as the Head of Corporate Communications at SportPesa, where she manages the company’s communication strategies and public relations initiatives. Her tenure at SportPesa spans over seven years, during which she has progressed through various roles, including Manager of Public Relations, Communication, and Partnerships. 

In her capacity as Chairperson since November 2022, Sabrina is steadfast in advancing the interests of the sports betting industry. She actively participated in pivotal industry initiatives, including the launch of new sports betting companies, and represented the association in meetings with the Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Budget, advocating for regulatory improvements and addressing tax and operational challenges within the industry.

Beyond her professional roles, Sabrina is passionate about corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives at SportPesa, focusing on community upliftment and sports development. Sabrina is also a strong advocate for women’s empowerment in the workplace and beyond. She has been featured in the “Rising Women: Count Her In” campaign, aligning with the UN’s International Women’s Day theme that promotes investing in women. Her participation in this initiative, along with coverage by Mwananchi Communications Ltd and The Citizen newspaper, has allowed her to inspire others while advocating for gender equality in professional spaces.

Before joining SportPesa, Sabrina cultivated her skills at AccessBank Tanzania Ltd and Barclays Bank Tanzania as a PR and Marketing Executive and PR and Communications Executive, respectively.

Academically, Sabrina Msuya holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Corporate Management from Mzumbe University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Tumaini University. Her visionary leadership, commitment to ethical practices, and fervor for fostering community engagement position her as a key catalyst for the ongoing growth of the gaming environment in Africa.
