Celebrating 2024’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Gaming, Africa: Zoé Siwa

Zoé Siwa is a distinguished Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, where she has been instrumental in driving financial excellence in the gambling industry since February 2017.

With robust expertise in financial management, cash flow analysis, and regulatory compliance, she has emerged as a key figure in public finance and municipal finance management in South Africa.

Zoé’s career in finance began with her foundational education in Accounting and Finance at the University of Stellenbosch, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree from 2004 to 2007. Following her graduation, she joined PwC, one of the world’s leading professional services firms, where she quickly ascended through various roles, gaining invaluable experience and skills that would define her career. From March 2012 to July 2013, she deftly managed audits as an Assistant Manager in Worcester, South Africa, demonstrating her commitment to excellence.

Her leadership capabilities propelled her to Senior Associate positions in global PwC offices, including New York City and San Francisco, where she worked from late 2012 through early 2014. Additionally, she spent a brief stint as a Senior Associate in PwC Amsterdam in 2015.

In July 2013, Zoé took on a managerial role at PwC South Africa, responsible for liaising between clients and partners, supervising junior staff, and overseeing financial statement reporting. Her deep knowledge of accounting standards, including Generally Recognised Accounting Practices (GRAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and US GAAP, was crucial in ensuring compliance and high-quality audit outcomes.

Since joining the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board as CFO in 2017, she has led initiatives that enhance financial governance and efficiency within the organization, with her strategic vision and proficiency in cash flow management being pivotal in maintaining the board’s financial health while promoting responsible gambling practices.

Recognizing the need for greater representation of women in the gaming and finance sectors, Zoé has taken on the role of Ambassador for Women in Gaming. Through this platform, she advocates for gender diversity, equality, and empowerment within the industry, dedicating herself to mentoring young women aspiring to enter finance and gaming.

As an inspirational role model, her journey continues to motivate others in the finance community—especially women—underscoring the importance of mentorship, professional development, and community engagement in the pursuit of excellence. Overall, Zoé Siwa exemplifies not only a highly regarded Chief Financial Officer but also a passionate advocate for women’s representation in gaming.
