Gambling Authority Promotes Safe Play at the 2026 Up-Diremogolo Challenge in Gabane

The Gambling Authority of Botswana recently joined the Gabane community in celebrating the 2026 Up-Diremogolo Challenge, an event that highlights community spirit, wellness, and the country’s rich cultural heritage.

The Up-Diremogolo Challenge (UPDC) is an annual outdoor event held at Diremogolo Hill in Gabane. It features activities such as a 10 km Fun Challenge and a more demanding 15 km Ultimate Challenge. The hill presents a scenic yet challenging trail is characterized by hilly, rocky, and bushy terrain, making it an ideal experience for adventure seekers.

The event also celebrates cultural heritage by inviting participants to “Explore Ditso Tsa Balete” and showcasing the traditions of the Balete people of Gabane. Exploring local landmarks such as Diremogolo Hill is regarded as a source of national pride.

Beyond physical activity, the challenge promotes community well-being through initiatives such as a farmers’ market, free health screenings, and various fitness programs. The event was attended by Honorable Thomas Kagiso Mmusi, Member of Parliament for the Gabane-Mankgodi Constituency. His presence underscored the importance of the challenge as a platform for strengthening community ties and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

The event also served as a valuable social awareness platform, with the Gambling Authority using the opportunity to advance its Safe Play campaign.
