iGaming AFRIKA Announces Exclusive Webinar: “New Gaming Licensing Framework Explained – Exploring The Status of Gambling in Nigeria”
iGaming AFRIKA is excited to host an exclusive, in-depth webinar on Friday, May 30th, 2025, titled “New Gaming Licensing Framework Explained – Exploring The Status of Gambling in Nigeria.” This pivotal event aims to shed light on the recent transformative developments in Nigeria’s gaming regulatory landscape, offering valuable insights for operators, regulators, investors, and industry stakeholders.
A Landmark Shift in Nigeria’s Gaming Regulation
Nigeria’s gaming industry has recently undergone significant regulatory changes. The Supreme Court’s ruling that temporarily suspended the operations of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) and assigned exclusive authority over gaming activities to individual states marked a turning point. While this introduced a period of uncertainty, it set the stage for groundbreaking reforms.
On May 7th, 2025, a historic milestone was achieved when the member states of the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria (FSGRN) signed the Subnational Reciprocity Licensing Framework at the Radisson Hotel in Lagos. This landmark agreement introduces a unified licensing mechanism designed to streamline and harmonize gaming regulations across participating states.
Unveiling the Subnational Reciprocity Licensing Framework
At the core of this new framework is the innovative “Universal Reciprocity Certificate” (URC), a license that enables operators to conduct online sports betting, online casino, public online lottery, and promotional competitions seamlessly across all member states. This means operators can now pursue a single license that grants nationwide operational rights, significantly reducing administrative burdens and fostering industry growth.

This upcoming session will feature industry-leading experts, legal practitioners, and regulatory officials who will analyze the implications of these developments. Topics of discussion will include:
