Kenya Removes Visa Requirements for Majority of African and Caribbean Countries, a Win for iGaming AFRIKA Summit 2026

Kenya has officially lifted visa requirements for citizens from the majority of African and Caribbean nations, a move that is set to boost regional integration, tourism, and international events such as the upcoming iGaming AFRIKA Summit 2026.

This new policy allows travelers from eligible countries to enter Kenya without the need for Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), lengthy forms, or visa fees, thereby eliminating bureaucratic delays at border points.

Citizens from eligible nations will now be able to enter Kenya without the need for Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), lengthy forms, or visa fees. This streamlined process will allow travelers to arrive at the border and gain entry without bureaucratic delays. However, the exemption does not apply to Libya and Somalia, which the government has excluded due to ongoing security concerns.

Under the revised policy, African nationals can stay in Kenya for up to two months, while East African Community (EAC) citizens continue to benefit from a six-month stay in line with existing regional free movement agreements. The Cabinet noted that this decision supports Kenya’s commitment to open skies policies and aims to drive growth in the tourism sector.

President William Ruto emphasized that easing entry procedures would help strengthen relationships across the continent by making cross-border travel more accessible. A government notice issued in January 2025 highlighted Kenya’s broader strategy to improve the travel experience. Among the measures listed was the proposal to exempt all African nations—excluding Somalia and Libya—from ETA requirements in order to facilitate easier mobility.

This policy marks a significant shift in Kenya’s immigration framework and reflects a growing trend among African nations to reduce travel barriers within the continent.

Importantly, this development comes as a significant advantage for the upcoming iGaming AFRIKA Summit 2026, scheduled to take place in Nairobi between the 4th and 6th of May 2026. Many delegates will now find it easier to access the country for what is anticipated to be the biggest gaming event ever hosted on the African continent, fostering greater participation and networking opportunities.

Jeremiah Maangi, CEO of iGaming AFRIKA, commented on the announcement, stating: “This move by Kenya significantly enhances the prospects for the iGaming AFRIKA Summit 2026. Delegates from around the globe have the chance to travel to Nairobi, Kenya, for Africa’s premier gaming summit. It truly is a step forward in making Africa a hub for gaming innovation and collaboration.”

This move underscores Kenya’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a key hub for regional and international events, further boosting its profile as a vibrant destination for business and tourism alike.

The iGaming AFRIKA Summit 2026 will carry the slogan, “The Heart of Gaming in Africa,” emphasizing its role as the continent’s premier platform for innovation, networking, and industry growth.
