LSLGA Wins The “Regulatory Innovation Award” at the International Regulatory Awards 2025!

The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) has received international recognition after winning the “Regulatory Innovation Award” at the International Regulatory Awards 2025, hosted by the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) in Toronto, Canada.
The award acknowledges the Authority’s pioneering work on SAFEPLAY, Africa’s first regulator-led, multi-operator self-exclusion platform, which is centrally managed by LSLGA and fully integrated with gaming operators’ systems. The initiative provides a model framework for player protection and responsible gaming, underscoring Lagos State’s leadership in regulatory innovation across the continent.
In his acceptance remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of LSLGA, Mr. Bashir Are, expressed appreciation to IAGR for the recognition, emphasizing the need for regulators globally to prioritize measures that protect citizens and maintain gaming as a form of entertainment rather than a source of social disruption.
