NASSCORP Commits $25,000 to Fund NLA’s Back-to-School Program for 40 Schools Across Liberia
The National Lottery Authority of Liberia (NLA) has partnered with the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) to implement a Back-to-School initiative that will provide essential learning materials to 40 public schools and support approximately 1,000 vulnerable beneficiaries across 12 of Liberia’s 15 counties.
Launched in Monrovia on November 4, 2026, the collaboration includes US$25,000 in financial assistance from NASSCORP. The upcoming distribution will benefit children from disadvantaged backgrounds and persons with disabilities (PWDs), reinforcing the NLA’s commitment to educational advancement, social inclusion, and humanitarian development.
Under the leadership of Director General Hon. Peter L. Solo, the NLA emphasized that physical disabilities or economic hardship should never prevent children from accessing education or participating meaningfully in society. The Authority also expressed its appreciation to NASSCORP for its contribution and support for an initiative that directly benefits vulnerable Liberians.
The contribution comes at a critical time for the NLA, which is balancing statutory social welfare obligations with other institutional and financial priorities. These include ongoing programs that assist community college and university students across Liberia with registration fees and tuition.

The learning materials, including copybooks, pens, pencils, and book bags, are scheduled to be distributed to the selected schools in the coming days. The initiative aims to reduce economic barriers for disadvantaged children and ensure more equitable access to basic educational resources.
The beneficiary schools are located in 12 counties across three regions, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland, and Sinoe in the southeastern region; Montserrado, Margibi, Grand Bassa, Bong, and Nimba in the central region, and Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, and Gbarpolu in the western region.
This year’s drive continues the NLA’s longstanding social responsibility agenda. Over the past decade, the Authority’s Back-to-School Program has provided educational assistance to more than 75 public schools across all 15 political subdivisions of Liberia.
The intervention is guided by three developmental objectives. First, it seeks to break the cycle of poverty by improving access to learning materials that can support long-term socioeconomic advancement. Second, it promotes inclusive education by safeguarding the rights of persons with disabilities and ensuring equal access to instructional resources. Finally, it encourages institutional responsibility by showing how public entities can coordinate their resources to address shared national welfare challenges.
NASSCORP’s support strengthens the initiative’s funding and helps the NLA provide direct assistance to vulnerable communities while managing its other priorities.
