NLGRB Seizes 370+ Illegal Gaming Machines Across Uganda in October

The Uganda National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has intensified enforcement against unauthorized gaming devices across the country, working with the Uganda Police Force.

As part of its ongoing #OperationMashineHaramu campaign, the NLGRB confiscated more than 370 illegal gaming machines across several districts in October 2026.

On 16 October, the NLGRB announced the seizure of more than 170 machines in 11 districts, including Ibanda, Mbarara, Kabale, Masaka, Pallisa, Butebo, Namutumba, Apac, Nwoya, Oyam, and Kole.

A follow-up update on 29 October reported the confiscation of more than 200 additional devices in the Kampala Metropolitan Area, Greater KMP, Isingiro, Kibuku, Pallisa, and Lamwo, including border areas. Together, the two operations removed more than 370 illegal gaming machines from circulation.

The NLGRB credited the operations’ success to support from the Uganda Police Force and regional police commanders, as well as the vigilance of local leaders, whistleblowers, media partners, and community members. Their information helped authorities locate illegal machines and assist enforcement officers in the field.

As enforcement continues nationwide, the NLGRB is urging the public to report suspicious gaming activities and provide information about illegal operators, manufacturers, and machine suppliers.

Through these efforts, the Board aims to sustain its crackdown and promote responsible gaming standards.
