NLGRB Visits Muntuyera High School to Raise Awareness About Underage Gambling
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB)’s Responsible Gaming team recently visited Muntuyera High School to raise awareness about underage gambling.
Guided by the principle that “the future belongs to informed and empowered young people,” the session highlighted the serious risks associated with early exposure to gambling. NLGRB officials urged students to focus on their education and make informed choices rather than engage in high-risk gambling.
Under Uganda’s Lotteries and Gaming Act, gambling by anyone under the age of 25 is illegal. Through its school outreach, the NLGRB aims to reinforce this legal restriction and raise awareness of the broader consequences of early betting, including declining academic performance, misuse of school fees, addiction, and mental health challenges.

The NLGRB said: “By taking the message to schools, we are fostering a culture of awareness, prevention and protection to ensure young people are shielded from the adverse effects of gaming.”
The initiative aims to protect adolescents from the harmful effects of gambling and foster a safer environment where students can focus on building productive, fulfilling futures.
