NWGB Partners with Liquor Regulator and Community Policing Forum to Host Responsible Gambling Roadshow

The North West Gambling Board (NWGB), in partnership with the Liquor Regulator and the Community Policing Forum, recently hosted a productive roadshow in Leeudoringstad Township, situated within the Maquassi Hills Local Municipality.

A primary goal of the roadshow was to provide residents with essential knowledge regarding local regulations and social responsibility. The community was educated on several critical pillars, including responsible gambling, which provided guidelines on how to engage in gambling activities safely and within legal frameworks.

Additionally, there was clarity on liquor licensing, covering the legal requirements and processes for obtaining and maintaining liquor licenses. The education also emphasized support for problem gamblers, offering information about the support systems available for individuals and families affected by gambling addiction.

Beyond education, the roadshow served as a direct call to action for the community to help curb illegal practices that bypass provincial regulations. Residents were specifically urged to report the presence of illegal gambling machines, which are often found operating in local tuckshops. By identifying these unauthorized machines, the community plays a vital role in ensuring that gambling remains a strictly regulated activity, thereby protecting vulnerable citizens.

The event, part of the “Thuntsha Lerole” initiative, focused on fostering a safer and more informed community through targeted education and active local engagement.
