Tekno Joins betPawa as Brand Ambassador

Augustine Miles Kelechi popularly known as Tekno has signed on as the new face of betPawa, marking a bold step in the gaming brand’s growing connection with Nigeria’s sports and entertainment scene.

The announcement in Lagos, Nigeria comes just days after betPawa unveiled a ₦494 million sponsorship package for the Nigeria National League (NNL) under its Locker Room Bonus initiative, a programme designed to directly reward footballers and technical teams for winning performances.

According to Borah Omary Ndanyungu, Head of Local Marketing & CSR at betPawa, the decision to partner with Tekno reflects the company’s vision of merging sport, music, and youth culture to inspire the next generation. “Tekno represents everything we stand for — energy, creativity, and breaking boundaries. His music inspires millions, just as football does. That’s why he’s the perfect face of betPawa,” she said

Tekno, whose hits such as Buga (Lo Lo Lo), Skeletun, and Duro have made him one of Nigeria’s most influential artists, said the partnership felt natural. “I’ve always been about pushing limits, from the studio to the stage. That’s why betPawa felt like family. The odds, the payouts, the innovation, it’s a game-changer. And you know me, I’m here for winners only,” he said.

The Locker Room Bonus initiative ensures that every winning team in the NNL receives mobile-money payments of ₦56,000 each for 20 players and three technical staff — a total of ₦1.288 million per match. Over ₦369 million will be paid directly to players and staff across 292 matches this season, with additional funding allocated to league operations and end-of-season awards.

Beyond football, betPawa says its goal is to empower African communities through inclusive development. The brand, which operates across multiple markets on the continent, has also invested in women’s football and basketball in other countries and is exploring similar opportunities in Nigeria.
