Applications For Cohort 6 Open At Visa’s African Fintech Accelerator

Visa has opened applications by African FinTech’s at the Cohort 6 fintech accelerator in Egypt. A12-week programme designed to support and scale early-stage fintech startups across the continent.

The accelerator is built to provide selected startups with structured support that combines mentorship, technical enablement, and market access. The initiative is part of Visa’s broader effort to strengthen Africa’s digital financial ecosystem.

Visa will help promising startups accelerate growth, improve product capabilities, and expand into new markets. Cohort 6 will provide selected startups with structured support that combines mentorship, technical enablement, and market access.

At the event founders will work closely with Visa experts and industry leaders while also gaining exposure to investors, venture capital firms, and corporate partners. The goal is to equip startups with the tools and networks needed to move from early traction to scalable, regional businesses.

The programme is targeting early-stage fintech startups, typically at Seed to Series A stage. These startups are expected to: Be actively working on scaling their operations, strengthening their technology infrastructure, and expanding into new African markets.

Additionally, Visa will be focusing more on startups building solutions in key fintech verticals. These include digital payments, embedded finance, financial inclusion, SME-focused tools, and next-generation banking infrastructure. These areas reflect ongoing gaps in Africa’s financial ecosystem, where innovation continues to drive greater access, efficiency, and inclusion.

To qualify for the programme, startups must demonstrate a working product, clear market validation, and a scalable business model. Furthermore, they should show strong potential for regional or pan-African expansion, with solutions aligned to fintech innovation and real-world financial challenges.

What are The Cohort Meetings?

 The cohort meetups refer to the Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator program. The accelerator selects groups (cohorts) of African fintech startups for intensive mentorship, investment, and strategic partnerships.

The Cohort meeting launched in 2023, and aims to support 1,000+ African startups, contributing to Visa’s goal of investing $1 billion in Africa’s digital transformation by 2027.
