National Lottery Regulatory Commission NLRC Clears 19 Betting Sites LSLGA

The NLRC proceeded to clear a total of 19 additional sports betting and gaming companies, giving them the green light to operate in Nigeria, among them companies that the LSLGA tagged as unlicensed.

In a letter seen by iGaming AFRIKA, the Director-General of the commission, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila, identified ZEBET, BETIKA, GOBET, MSPORT, AFRIBET, and BANGBET as among the operators that have been fully licensed and thus operating legally in Nigeria.

BETWAZOBIA, KORETBET, PARIPESA, LIVESCOREBET, BLACKBET/BETTY BINGO, CLOUDBET, HALLABET, N1BET, KONFAMBET, SCRATCH2WIN, NAIJABET, LOTTOMANIA, and MILLIONAIRE POWERPLAY are among the other sites that have been given the green light to operate in the West African nation.

Gbajabiamila maintained that despite the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority’s (LSLGA) publication alleging that they were unlicensed, the operators had valid licenses to carry out their lottery and sports betting business in Nigeria.

The attention of the Management of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) has been drawn to the publication on various media platforms purportedly to have emanated from Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) with the caption “Public Notice on Unlicensed Gaming Companies in Lagos State”. This publication has created confusion in the Nigeria gaming industry and the Commission has been inundated with request on the Status of the operators tagged ‘unlicenced and illegal”. It is therefore necessary for NLRC as the Agency created by law to regulate Loterry and Gaming in Nigeria to make clarification.

According to the head of the Lottery Commission, the approval granted to the listed operators was intended to inform the public of their status with regard to sports betting and gaming within the nation.
