Malala Handila Chawelwa is a dynamic Head of Operations at BetKwacha, where she leverages her extensive experience to drive operational excellence and promote innovation across the organization.

With a career spanning multiple industries, Malala has established herself as a formidable force in the quest for increased representation of women in leadership roles.

Before her current position, Malala made significant contributions at Bolabet Company Limited and  Betway Group, where she served as an operations manager and Money Laundering Reporting Officer respectively —a role that honed her analytical skills and deepened her understanding of regulatory compliance in the gaming industry. Earlier in her career, she worked as an Assistant Station Manager at a Road Transport & Safety Agency, where she gained valuable insights into logistical operations and safety protocols.

A passionate advocate for gender equality, Malala is a firm believer that while progress has been made, the fight for inclusivity in the workplace is far from over. “Today, we celebrate the incredible achievements of women who’ve shattered glass ceilings and paved the way for a more equitable future. However, the number of women in C-Suite and management roles remains far too low,” she notes, emphasizing the importance of continued efforts towards parity.

Malala actively champions the #InspireInclusion movement by advocating for mentorship and sponsorship programs that empower women to achieve their maximum potential, promoting unconscious bias training for fair opportunities, and supporting the development of diverse leadership teams that reflect our global workforce’s richness. Her commitment to these ideals is not just about reaching leadership roles; it’s about thriving in them and inspiring the next generation of women leaders.

Through her work at BetKwacha and her dedication to these initiatives, Malala Handila Chawelwa is not just making a mark in the operations space; she is paving the way for a future where women thrive at all levels of leadership.
