In addition to the primary competitions, the 2025 RLCS will feature Last Chance Open Qualifiers. Scheduled between Major 2 and the World Championship, these qualifiers offer teams an extra opportunity to secure a spot in the championship, with only one team from each of the four main regions, including SSA, qualifying through these high-pressure events.
The RLCS World Championship in 2025 will see an expansion to 20 teams competing for glory. It will include a Play-Ins stage where the winners from the Last Chance Open Qualifiers will challenge the lowest-seeded teams from less performing regions. From this Play-Ins group, only four teams will earn a chance to compete alongside the top 12 in the main event, giving underdog teams, especially those from SSA, a chance to shine on the global stage.
To further streamline the qualification process, a new Rankings Qualification system will be implemented, allowing teams that excel in the Open Qualifiers to automatically advance to later stages without the need for repeated early participation. However, this system will not apply to the Last Chance Qualifier, ensuring fairness for all teams.
