Bolabet and Zambia Government Sign MOU to Build Multi-Facility Sports Centre in Lusaka

Bolabet Zambia Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts to construct a state-of-the-art multi-facility sports centre at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

The upcoming facility is designed to advance youth empowerment, enhance sports performance, and foster community well-being through access to modern training amenities, mentorship initiatives, and wellness programmes.

Bolabet highlighted the collaboration as part of a shared commitment to use sport as a driver of national progress, pledging both financial and technical backing for the development. “As a proudly Zambian company, Bolabet is committed to ensuring that this project not only serves the present but also inspires future generations to believe that their dreams are valid, their talents matter, and their country supports them,” said Ray Kumwenda, Chief Financial Officer of Bolabet, during the event.

He noted that the company’s contribution is intended to uplift communities, empower youth, and nurture future leaders through sport. Kumwenda also praised the Ministry for its willingness to engage the private sector and reiterated Bolabet’s dedication to long-term youth and sports development.

Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu expressed appreciation for Bolabet’s partnership, acknowledging its role in boosting Zambia’s sports infrastructure. “As government, we thank Bolabet for coming on board to finance this project. This is significant because such investments create jobs, grow the economy, and contribute to sporting excellence,” Nkandu stated. He further applauded the company for prioritising national interests and supporting initiatives that benefit Zambian communities.

The proposed multi-facility complex at Heroes Stadium will include a basketball court and other sporting infrastructure aimed at nurturing talent and encouraging active lifestyles among young Zambians.
