Russia Targets South African Gamers for Recruitment Through Online Platforms

According to sources cited in recent reports, recruiters approached players of games such as Arma 3, leveraging the appeal of tactical gameplay to entice them into signing up for military service.
The recruitment process reportedly began entirely online. Discord servers, where players already engaged in strategy discussions and multiplayer campaigns, became the conduit for contact. Recruiters, operating under gamer-style usernames, would initiate friendly conversations, gradually shifting to discussions about opportunities in Russia.

At least one of the recruits was later deployed to Ukraine, while the current status of the second recruit remains unknown.
