MAGLA partnered with the Zomba City Festival to foster social interaction and local tourism development

The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) recently partnered with the Zomba City Festival, providing MK5 million in sponsorship.

The primary goal of this investment was to promote arts, culture, and tourism within Malawi, creating a platform where citizens could celebrate the nation’s rich cultural heritage through music and community activities. By supporting this festival, MAGLA successfully advanced its mission to foster social interaction and local tourism development.

During the festival, MAGLA took the opportunity to promote responsible gambling awareness, with a key objective of leveraging the event’s high attendance. To achieve this, the Authority implemented a two-pronged engagement strategy, first, through educational outreach by distributing informational flyers to patrons, providing essential knowledge on responsible gaming practices, and second, by hosting an interactive quiz focused on the gaming and lotteries industry to test public knowledge and encourage active participation.

The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from festival attendees. To incentivize learning and reward engagement, MAGLA distributed branded prizes, including T-shirts, hats, pens, and drinking bottles, to participants who successfully answered quiz questions. This approach not only increased brand visibility but also ensured that the message of responsible play was delivered in an engaging, community-focused environment.

MAGLA remains dedicated to its long-term goals of supporting community engagement, cultural development, and responsible gambling awareness across all regions of Malawi.
