Global and highly successful online developer Opera has teamed with Safaricom to provide no-cost data in Ethiopia. Opera Safaricom Ethiopia Free Data
This comes as part of its effort to promote greater accessibility to the internet throughout the African continent.
This is a part of Opera’s Free Data program in Africa, which the firm launched in 2017 and has since invested more than $100 million in to bring more people online and provide them with the quickest and most dependable internet connection available.

Opera has already made it possible for close to 40 million users across five countries to enjoy up to 3 GB of free browsing each month. This has been made possible through collaborations with regional carriers.
This effort has made it easier and more affordable for users to start enterprises, communicate with loved ones, and start educational pursuits.
Over the past three years, Opera has spent more than $12 million on free data initiatives in Kenya for instance.
Ethiopia is a large and growing country in which we see a great deal of potential. But at this point, the internet penetration rate is only around 16.7 per cent nationwide. So we’re excited to join forces with long-time partner Safaricom to help expand Ethiopia’s digital economy.
In the past, our collaboration provided a first window to the web for many users in Kenya, and we’re proud to work together to try to similarly bring millions of new users online in Ethiopia.

Users will be able to take advantage of up to 50 MB of daily free browsing thanks to the campaign when using Opera Mini or Opera for Android on the Safaricom network,
