Angelica Amina on Recruitment in Africa’s Gaming and Affiliate Marketing Industry

The African gaming and affiliate marketing sectors are experiencing rapid growth, fueled by increased digital penetration and a burgeoning online economy. However, building strong, skilled teams remains a significant challenge for companies operating in this space.

In a conversation with Jeremiah Maangi, during the recent SiGMA Africa 2025 Conference, Angelica Amina, Human Resources Recruitment Manager at Megapari, shared valuable insights into the nuances of recruitment within this evolving industry, highlighting opportunities, obstacles, and lessons from more developed markets.

Angelica pointed out that the affiliate marketing sector is becoming increasingly attractive as digital platforms grow and diversify. “The affiliate marketing space has a lot of opportunities since everything now is going digital,” she explained. Companies like Megapari support this dynamic with robust management systems that help identify and onboard affiliates and professionals through diverse deal structures such as revenue sharing, hybrid CPA models, and fixed payment agreements.

Despite the promising landscape, several hurdles complicate effective recruitment in Africa’s gaming sector. From an HR perspective, one of the most pressing issues is talent acquisition. The sector’s still-developing status limits the pool of top-tier professionals with specialized gaming expertise. As Angelica puts it, “The main challenge that I face is the inability to get top talents because the gaming sector in Africa is still growing. It’s not that strong.”

Additionally, technological barriers, such as inconsistent internet access and limited training infrastructure, hamper the development of a highly skilled workforce. These issues not only restrict the availability of qualified candidates but also impede ongoing training and professional growth.

Angelica notes that recruitment agencies in more advanced regions have a competitive edge in sourcing top talent. They excel at outsourcing skilled professionals and understanding market nuances, which can be leveraged in Africa by adopting similar strategies. As the affiliate marketing landscape grows in Africa, Angelica believes that engaging professional HR services will be key to sourcing top talent and supporting industry development. “Engaging HR firms helps to outsource the best candidates. So, yeah, they can actually help in professionalism by outsourcing top talents,” she concluded, underlining the role of structured recruitment in driving long-term success.
