Botswana Gambling Authority Launches the Gambling Levy Fund Committee

Botswana Gambling Authority (G.A) has achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting the induction session for the Gambling Levy Fund Committee. The two-day event, held from Monday, 11th, to Tuesday, December 12th, 2023, marks the beginning of a promising journey toward responsible fund management and community development.

The opening ceremony, a grand affair, was attended by esteemed guests including the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mme Seipati Olweny, and the Gambling Authority Board Chairman, Mr. Marvin T. Torto. Their presence was a testament to the commitment and dedication displayed by the Gambling Authority in ensuring responsible oversight of the Gambling Fund levies.

The newly formed Gambling Levy Fund Committee is poised to achieve several crucial objectives, aimed at creating transparency, efficiency, and positive impact on communities. These objectives include, but are not limited to, accounting for all Gambling Fund levies, ensuring the funds are disbursed in line with the objectives of the Fund, monitoring projects and activities funded by the levies, and preparing and submitting annual budgets to the Accounting Officer (Permanent Secretary) for approval.
