Botswana Eyeing Implementation of the Central Electronic Monitoring System: IAGR 2023

Under the leadership of President Masisi, the government of Botswana is poised to leverage the gambling industry to create jobs, encourage responsible gambling practices, and support smaller enterprises.

The strategy also aims to stimulate investment, and economic and social diversification while facilitating gambling regulation compliance through digitization.

Hosted by the Gambling Authority in Botswana, this event has assembled gaming regulators from various regions across the globe in the picturesque terrain of Botswana.

The President, in his address, emphasized the critical points about the Gambling Licensing Plan and its expected impact on the country.

The plan is expected to create approximately 2,797 direct jobs and support small, medium, and micro enterprises in the gambling sector.

Digitization and Compliance

President Masisi emphasized support for SMMEs through the implementation of digitization, more specifically the establishment of a National Central Electronic Monitoring System. The main objective of this system is to simplify the process for businesses to adhere to the regulations of the Gambling Act of 2012, as well as to decrease their overall operating expenses.
