Cameroon Implements Centralized Control Over Online Gaming Payments
Yaoundé, January 22, 2025 – Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, has announced the establishment of a centralized control system for online gaming payments.
This directive, detailed in letter No. 000061/L/MINAT/SG/DAP/SDLP, was issued to telecommunications payment institutions, including Orange Money S.A and Mobile Money Corporation PLC.
Effective January 30, 2025, licensed payment service providers are required to suspend the accounts of any aggregators that provide payment services to online gaming companies, with INTOUCH Cameroun appointed as the sole approved aggregator.
The minister’s letter outlines the intent behind this decision: “As part of the regulation of the gambling sector, the Ministry of Territorial Administration has decided to set up a control system to better monitor operators in this sector.”

Furthermore, the letter emphasizes the exclusive role of INTOUCH Cameroun in managing transactions within the online gaming industry: “All operations related to the reloading and unloading of online players’ accounts must exclusively go through the technical integrator designated above.”
Payment institutions are urged to comply with these new requirements to avoid any disruption to their services. The government anticipates that these measures will not only protect consumers but also uphold the integrity of the online gaming landscape in Cameroon, reinforcing the principles of fairness and transparency in the industry.
This centralized approach aims to enhance oversight of financial flows in the online gaming market and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
