Celebrating 2024’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Gaming, Africa: Olabimpe Akingba
Olabimpe Akingba is a distinguished legal practitioner and a prominent advocate within the gambling and casinos industry in Africa. With a specialized focus on business development and regulatory affairs, she currently serves as the Regional Manager for Africa at Mchezo Limited in Kigali City, Rwanda.
Her extensive legal expertise encompasses corporate advisory, compliance, legal drafting, corporate governance, and iGaming, making her a respected figure in her field. Recognized as the Most Influential Woman in Gaming 2022, Akingba is committed to driving positive change and advocating for equitable practices in the industry.
Her professional journey began with a robust educational foundation, earning her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Ado Ekiti (now Ekiti State University) from 2004 to 2010. She further honed her legal acumen at the Nigerian Law School, where she received her Barrister at Law (BL) qualification. Akingba supplemented her education with a Statement of Accomplishment in Representing the Professional Athlete from Case Western Reserve University in 2015, further illustrating her commitment to bridging law and sports.
Olabimpe Akingba’s career reflects a steadfast dedication to her profession, having held several key positions in prominent organizations. Prior to her current role at Mchezo Limited, she served as the Executive Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Bookmakers from January 2020 to February 2024. Her role involved significant oversight of regulations and industry standards, aligning the association’s interests with the evolving landscape of gambling laws.

She previously held the position of Legal and Compliance Manager at Alvac Company Limited for eight months and also served in a similar capacity at Winners Bookmaker Nigeria Ltd (1960Bet) from November 2014 to March 2018. In these roles, Akingba provided internal legal advisory services, ensured compliance with statutory provisions, and liaised with regulatory bodies. Her ability to navigate the complexities of sports betting and lottery regulations underscored her expertise in maintaining the integrity of operations within the gaming sector.
Earlier in her career, Olabimpe Akingba worked as a Legal Adviser at Afric-Nigeria Sports Affairs Ltd (Betcolony) and as an Associate at Brainfield Law Chambers. Her formative experience includes an internship under Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) at his law chambers, where she gained essential insights into the legal practices that would shape her career.
