Enugu Gaming Stakeholders Forum 2026 on Licensing and Compliance

The Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Commission recently held the 2026 Enugu State Gaming Stakeholders Forum to advance the modernization of gaming regulation in the state, recognizing that effective regulation must go beyond basic compliance.

The forum took place on 8 October 2026 at the Gold Rhino Hotel on Nkpokiti Road in Enugu. Its theme was “Beyond Compliance: Building a Safer, Smarter, and More Sustainable Gaming Industry in Enugu State.”

A key priority in the forum was strengthening compliance with state gaming laws, license conditions, and regulatory directives. Achieving this standard requires greater stakeholder understanding and the secure, day-to-day operation of the Gaming Regulatory Management Platform (GRMP).

To protect all market participants, the Commission emphasized the need for robust safeguards for data security, system integrity, and commercially sensitive information. Maintaining high data standards across the GRMP will help provide a reliable and transparent environment for regulators and operators.

A major feature of the forum was the Commission’s proposed B2B Gaming Supplier Licensing Framework. Recognizing the importance of underlying infrastructure to modern gaming, the framework would extend regulatory oversight beyond operators to include technology providers such as software developers, gaming technology companies, platform providers, and equipment suppliers.

The proposed framework aims to bring these providers under formal regulatory oversight and ensure their systems meet high standards of accountability, integrity, and security. It would identify providers and define their operational roles, govern technical connections between B2B suppliers and licensed operators, and ensure that supporting software and hardware are properly governed.

The Commission noted that the framework remains subject to further stakeholder engagement and formal legal processes before implementation.

Through ongoing collaboration among the Commission, operators, agents, and technology suppliers, the state is working to build a secure, transparent, and sustainable gaming environment.

The forum also placed player protection at the forefront with the launch of the Commission’s partnership with GambleAwareNG. Through the “Play Smart, Stay Safe” campaign, the six-month initiative will promote responsible gaming in land-based shops across Enugu State.
