Eswatini’s Xwin (Pty) Ltd Facing Player Payment Deception Allegations
Local employees of the alleged illegal online gambling operator Xwin (Pty) Ltd have accused the network of player payment deception. Citing coordinated instructions given to staff, as investigations into its operations continue.
Workers via Court affidavits described operating under scripted instructions, claiming they were guided to give customers false information. They provided misleading information to customers about delayed withdrawals and deposits.
One Ex-staff member Zimbili Mweli, said that they were under instructions to reassure users that payments would be processed, without confirmations that the funds had been released. She told investigators that employees used fixed responses to manage complaints and had no authority over financial decisions. These decisions were under the control of external groups operating outside Eswatini.
Seluleko Masuku, who was in the department responsible for deposits and withdrawals, said that customers often deposited significant amounts but either received minimal payouts or no refunds. Continuous complains from players made even the staff uncomfortable and ultimately raised concerns about the legitimacy of the operation.
The investigation widened after police searched Xwin-linked offices in Mbabane in March 2026. Authorities found foreign nationals working alongside local employees and most of the foreigners not appearing on payrolls. Police report has filed a number of vehicles and bank accounts linked to the company as suspected proceeds of unlawful gambling activity. The police are working on preservation orders over bank accounts, vehicles, cash and other assets believed to be connected to the operation.

This year alone the Royal Eswatini Police Service has arrested over 146 foreign nationals and has shut down as many illegal gambling firms in the country. Eswatini is on a mission to clean its streets of illegal and uncontrolled gambling.
