Gambling Authority and Namibia Lotteries Board Sign MOU to Enhance Regional Gaming Governance

The Gambling Authority and the Lotteries Board of Namibia have officially signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), setting a new benchmark for regional cooperation in gaming regulation.

The MoU was concluded during a high-level bilateral visit held from 23–24 July 2025 in Gaborone, aimed at fostering collaboration in regulatory policy, responsible gambling, and innovation in gaming oversight.

The agreement outlines a shared commitment to knowledge exchange, joint research, and coordinated efforts to safeguard players and promote integrity across the gaming landscape.

Representing the Gambling Authority were Board Member Mr. Gaoakanye Tapeng, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe, and his Executive Team.

The Namibian delegation was led by Dr. Wycliff Shililifa, Chairperson of the Lotteries Board, alongside CEO Dr. John Shimaneni.

The signing marks a strategic milestone in cross-border regulatory alignment, reinforcing Botswana’s position as a continental leader in responsible gaming policy and institutional excellence.
