Light & Wonder Gaming Company Enters Africa

Light & Wonder, Inc., a multinational gaming company, has successfully introduced its first-party content in South Africa through a partnership with Hollywoodbets, one of the leading operators in the country.

Light & Wonder has received approval from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (MER) to make this strategic foray into the rapidly expanding regulated igaming market in South Africa.

Light & Wonder’s exclusive igaming content will be available at launch, and Hollywoodbets customers will soon have access to a variety of games from well-known third-party studios like ReelPlay, Big Time Gaming, Blueprint, Greentube, Gaming Realms, Inspired, Elk Studios, Relax, G Games, and Fantasma.

The previous three years have witnessed success for the company’s live casino offerings, which are powered by Authentic Gaming, in the region.

Light & Wonder’s foray into the African internet market is noteworthy, considering the company’s long history there in the land-based market, where its games routinely rank among the top games on gaming floors.

Now that players may play these games, the company is taking a step closer to realizing its goals of providing new experiences to the market and expanding its worldwide omnichannel approach.

Entering South Africa’s online regulated market is an exciting move for Light & Wonder, allowing us to deliver on our promise of bringing new worlds of play to consumers worldwide.

We are excited to have launched our online games that we know South Africans already love playing in land-based casinos, and now we look forward to launching even more content from our partner studios in the coming months.

James Bustin, Commercial Director at Light & Wonder

Hollywoodbets’ Head of Product, Wayde Dorkin, stated:

“We want our players to enjoy the best possible casino experience, and this launch with Light & Wonder means we have expanded access to a wide range of highly compelling content within a very potent new market.

“The initial range of games produced by Light & Wonder is very impressive, and this is only the first step. By integrating Light & Wonder’s platform, we are looking forward to adding other third-party studios to our audience.”
