Lottotech Mauritius Achieves Africa’s First WLA Level 4 Certification

Lottotech, Mauritius’ national lottery operator, has been recertified at World Lottery Association (WLA) Responsible Gaming Level 4 for the third time, placing it among approximately 20 lotteries worldwide that hold the highest level of WLA responsible gaming certification and making it the first lottery in Africa to achieve Level 4 recertification three times. The operator first attained Level 4 status in 2020.

Achieving the WLA Level 4 certification requires a thorough evaluation of an organization’s operational integrity and ethical standards. The certification process involves meeting strict criteria, including protecting vulnerable players, providing continuous training for all staff members, offering support and guidance to retailers, adopting responsible communication strategies, and establishing rigorous mechanisms for ongoing improvement.

Lottotech has been recertified at WLA Level 4 for the third time, placing us among 20 lotteries out of 165 worldwide to have achieved the highest Responsible Gaming standard and the first in Africa to do so three times. This recognition reflects strong governance and a shared commitment to player protection and transparency, made possible through close collaboration with the regulator and trusted partners including DigitalRG.com,” said Lottotech

The most recent WLA Responsible Gaming (RG) certification submission round in October 2025 marked a significant milestone, with 20 successful certifications completed in a single round. The WLA delivers its Responsible Gaming certification programme in partnership with DigitalRG.com, whose platform centralises and streamlines the certification process. All Level 2 to Level 4 certifications are conducted through this system to ensure consistency and audit integrity.

Since 2024, all new and existing WLA members have been required to achieve Responsible Gaming certification at Level 2 or higher, reinforcing the association’s move toward mandatory baseline standards across its global membership.
