SportyTV Secures Pay-TV Rights for 2026 FIFA World Cup in South Africa

SportyTV has officially acquired the pay-TV rights to broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the entire tournament.

This will enable its viewers to stream all 104 matches through SportyTV’s integrated Over-the-Top (OTT) platform, with its mobile app available on Android and the App Store, as well as on major television ecosystems. 

SportyTV, part of the Nigeria-based Sporty Group, was created to provide affordable sports broadcasting across Africa. It is mainly known as a free-to-watch platform that focuses on making sports accessible without subscription costs. By leveraging its digital infrastructure, SportyTV aims to meet the continent’s rising demand for mobile-friendly and online streaming options, while also providing broader visibility for international and regional sports narratives.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico across 16 cities, with the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It will feature 48 teams, expanded from 32, and 104 matches, running from June 11 to July 19. As of April 2026, confirmed qualifiers include Argentina, Brazil, Morocco, Japan, and many others, with 10 African nations and 16 European teams in the mix. Overall, it will be a historic event with a larger scale and a new format.
