The Confederation of African Football (CAF) delegation has concluded its eight-day inspection of key facilities in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania as preparations continue for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027.
The inspection brought together senior officials from CAF’s Departments of Competitions, Safety and Security, Transport, Marketing, Media, Television, and Logistics, working alongside representatives from the three host governments and Local Organising Committees (LOCs).
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 is the 36th edition of Africa’s premier men’s international football tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This marks the first time in history that the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be hosted by three countries, bringing the tournament back to the CECAFA region (East Africa) for the first time since 1976, when it was hosted by Ethiopia.
The competition is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, June 19, 2027, and will conclude with the final match on Saturday, July 17, 2027. As the host nations, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda have already secured automatic qualification for the tournament finals.
The word “PAMOJA” means “together” in Swahili, reflecting the spirit of unity behind the joint hosting by these three countries.
Key host venues include the newly constructed 60,000-capacity Talanta Stadium in Nairobi, where delegates inspected the stadium, along with training venues, team and match official hotels, airport facilities, and other key sites forming part of Nairobi’s tournament infrastructure.
The inspection then continued in Uganda at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, and in Tanzania at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, where CAF assessed the readiness of stadiums, training sites, hotels, airports, and supporting facilities.
These visits form part of CAF’s broader inspection program across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, demonstrating CAF’s ongoing technical assessments and engagement with the host countries to ensure world-class facilities and infrastructure for next year’s tournament.
