AiA and ANB Sign MoU to Set New Standards in Africa’s iGaming Industry
The African iGaming Alliance (AiA) and the Association of Nigerian Bookmakers (ANB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a formal framework for strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and the wider African gaming and iGaming industry.
The MoU, signed on 4 September 2026 in Lagos, Nigeria, highlights the shared commitment of both organizations to fostering greater cooperation, knowledge exchange, and constructive engagement on issues essential to developing a responsible, sustainable, transparent, and well-regulated gaming industry.
The MoU’s strategic objectives focus on four key pillars. First, promoting responsible and safer gaming by prioritizing player protection and sustainable market growth. Second, combating unlicensed gaming and financial crime through stronger compliance and AML/CFT measures.
Third, fostering cross-border policy dialogue to develop unified standards in the face of rapid technological and digital changes. Lastly, uniting stakeholders,including operators, regulators, policymakers, tech providers, researchers, and advocacy groups, to enable knowledge sharing and build a sustainable gaming ecosystem.
Gift Tuadibofa, the Executive Secretary of the ANB, emphasized how this agreement aligns Nigeria with broader continental efforts: “The signing of this MoU with the African iGaming Alliance marks an important step in strengthening Nigeria’s engagement with the wider African gaming ecosystem. While the industry offers significant opportunities, it also requires collaboration, responsible practices, and a shared commitment to sustainability.

The strategic partnership is initially set for one year, with provisions for renewal by mutual agreement. By sharing insights, best practices, and regional experiences, AiA and ANB are committed to ensuring Africa’s gaming sector develops transparently, responsibly, and sustainably.
