Gabon’s PMUG Adopts Local Horse-Racing Betting Pool After PMU French Partnership Ends

French horse races remain on the programme of Pari Mutuel Urbain Gabonais (PMUG) after its agreement with France’s Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) expired on 30 September 2026. Since 1 October, the Gabonese operator has handled horse-racing wagers through a local pool, with payouts calculated using bets placed within the country.
Previously, those stakes formed part of the International Common Pool (Masse Commune Internationale, or MCI), alongside wagers collected in other participating countries. That arrangement ended after PMU France revised its overseas strategy and decided against renewing several operator agreements upon expiry. PMUG confirmed the end of its own partnership in a communiqué issued on 22 September, after more than two decades of cooperation.
As reported by Gabon Media Time, PMUG confirmed that customers would retain access to Quinté+ on French races through its agencies, kiosks and partner network. Its communiqué stated, “Le Quinté+ continuera d’être proposé, désormais en Masse Locale et sur des courses hippiques françaises.” Translated into English, this reads, “Quinté+ will continue to be offered, now through a local pool and on French horse races.”

With Quinté+ retained, PMUG also announced a second race under its Quarté+ offer, alongside the return of jackpots and mega jackpots in the domestic pool. It set the minimum Quinté+ jackpot at 10 million Central African CFA francs (FCFA), with subsequent changes governed by the game’s rules.
For the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, PMUG had announced a FCFA30 million Quinté+ jackpot, above the FCFA10 million minimum. The announcement placed the French race among the first major fixtures covered by the local pool after the transition.
