Bevla Games and EFZ Support Gaming Careers and Esports in Zambia
Bevla Games recently visited Open Window University during its Open Day, alongside the Esports Federation of Zambia (EFZ), for engaging discussion about the future of local gaming, Esports and the development of Zambia’s creative gaming community.
On 27 November 2025, the EFZ officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Open Window University. A strategic partnership that established a formal framework focusing on academic training in gaming and software development, co-hosting local and international esports competitions, and creating direct student internship pathways.
The visit brought key stakeholders together to examine Zambia’s growing gaming sector and explore career pathways for emerging talent. As higher education institutions such as Open Window expand their programmes in game design, animation, and digital media, aligning academic curriculum with industry needs has become increasingly important.
The discussions covered digital creativity and production pipelines, connecting technical game design with artistic storytelling to prepare students for studio work. Participants also explored how institutional support could strengthen grassroots esports and how community-led initiatives could create accessible spaces, both physically and digitally, where students, self-taught developers, and competitive gamers can collaborate.
A central theme was that building a sustainable gaming sector begins with investing in the people who drive it. Lusaka-based Bevla Games embraces this principle by supporting local creators through game jams, boot camps, and opportunities for aspiring developers to learn, experiment, and refine their skills.

Participants also emphasised that Zambia’s emerging gaming industry has the potential to reflect the nation’s heritage, voices, and creative perspectives. Partnerships with institutions that teach digital design can help advance this vision, equipping the next generation to share Zambian stories with global audiences.
The dialogue among Bevla Games, the EFZ, at Open Window University has established a foundation for ongoing collaboration, creating opportunities for young talent and helping build a creative community that reflects Zambia.
“At Bevla Games, we believe that growing Zambia’s gaming industry starts with supporting the people behind it. Creating spaces for creatives, gamers, and aspiring developers to connect and develop their skills is an important part of building a stronger local gaming community.
We appreciate the opportunity to have these conversations with Open Window and EFZ and look forward to continuing to contribute to the growth of gaming and esports in Zambia,’’ Bevla Games said.
