Gambling Board of Namibia Hands over N$15 Million Dividends to Government

The Gambling Board of Namibia has paid N$15 million in dividends to the government, in its capacity as a shareholder, for the 2025/2026 financial year. The money was handed over in Windhoek on Wednesday, in the presence of environment minister Indileni Daniel and finance minister Ericah Shafudah.
Minister Daniel commended the Board for the good financial performance. Deputy Executive Director Colgar Sikopo, Boarding acting Chief Executive John Erastus and other senior officials from both Environment and Finance Ministries witnessed the handover in Windhoek.
Board Chairperson Ben Shikongo urged government parastatals to share their profits with the government to enable it to meet its public needs. He pointed out that the government must prioritize various requirements, such as healthcare and public assistance initiatives, and he made the case that more funding may enable it to meet those requests.

He admitted that if certain institutions had been operating at a loss, they might not have been able to pay dividends. He stated that instead of leaving the public anticipating a donation they are unable to provide, people should be up and honest about their financial circumstances in these situations.
The Gambling Board carries the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism delegated function to regulate licence and monitor the gambling industry in Namibia.
