NLRC And NPF To Improve Lottery Sector Integrity

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) have teamed up to safeguard the security and integrity of the lottery industry in Nigeria. NPF NLRC Lottery Nigeria

The agreement was made during a meeting between the interim inspector general of police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and the director general of NLRC, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila, at the force’s Abuja headquarters.

The meeting highlighted the cooperation between the two organizations, which aims to strengthen the country’s lottery industry while obeying the law.

In his remarks, Mr. Gbajabiamila emphasized the significance of preserving transparency, fairness, and security in all aspects of lottery operations, acknowledging the important part that lotteries play in both entertainment and socio-economic development. He pointed out that this dedication was crucial to preserving the confidence of stakeholders and the public at large.

Gbajabiamila outlined the shared accountability of both institutions in preventing fraud, manipulation, and any other illegal acts that can jeopardize the public’s trust in the lottery sector.

In particular, he emphasized the NLRC’s reliance on police officers for monitoring and enforcing compliance within the lottery sector while requesting the IGP’s assistance in instructing commissioners of police around the country to assign officers to the Commission to help it when necessary.

This visit aims to consolidate on the existing collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the National Lottery Regulatory commission, which is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our nation’s lottery system and upholding the law. Through our combined efforts, we can effectively combat any attempt at fraud, manipulation or illegal activities that could undermine the public’s trust in the lottery industry.

Specifically, the NLRC would require the service of the police officers, in the process of monitoring of lottery activities and enforcement of compliance. Therefore, we solicit your cooperation in directing commissioners of police nationwide, to release police officers to assist the commission whenever the need arises.

Egbetokun responded with assurance and tenacity. He emphasized the dedication of the Nigeria Police Force to helping the NLRC in its enforcement and supervision responsibilities.

He acknowledged Gbajabiamila’s requests and promised that the relevant directives would be forwarded to Police Commissioners across the nation.

I want to assure you that the Nigeria Police Force will assist you in your monitoring and enforcement duties. We will partner with you in investigating and fighting fraud, providing security needs for your personnel while you go about your lawful duties.

Know that I have taken note of your requests and instructions will be given as regards Police commissioners nationwide.
