Betika Kenya & gambler engaged in a legal dispute over $5000 unpaid winnings

Betika has been sued by Mr. David Juma, a gambler from Nakuru County, Kenya. Juma claims that he won a KSh 500,000 jackpot after wagering Sh10 on the Betika site, however, Betika who are the biggest bookmakers in Kenya didn’t pay him his winnings.

On February 18, David Juma, a gambler from Nakuru and his brother Collins Kizito wagered Sh10 on the eight-game Sababisha jackpot to win Sh500,000 in the bet. Before placing the bet, the two examined the eight games that the betting company had listed for prediction. After the games were, played, the two brothers were happy to realize that they had won.

They then kept a close eye on the games after placing their bet to see how they would turn out. All of the predictions, according to Mr. Juma, came true, and they were waiting to claim their prizes. They were astonished, however, to find that the company had incorrectly said that one match had not been successfully predicted when they went on to the website.

To try and fix the mistake, they made the decision to get in touch with the company, but their efforts went unattended. 

Since then, it has been a game of cat and mouse as all attempts to contact Betika to correct the error and pay me my winnings have proved futile. My brother and I have made several calls to Betika and tried to reach them through social media but to no avail as there has been no response.

said Mr Juma.

The player complained that the company that had let him down had misled him after he had invested time, money, and energy in studying the games. Mr. Juma filed a lawsuit against Shop and Deliver Limited, the business that operates as Betika, in his case at the Nakuru Small Claims Court. He submitted the betting slips and transaction messages from the petition together with the match results as proof.

According to Mr. Juma, the business’s acts were malicious and in violation of the contract. Collins Kizito, a witness for Mr. Juma, testified in court that he assisted his brother in analyzing and placing the bets using Mr. Juma’s Betika account, which the business acknowledged.

In court documents, Kizito claimed, “I used Juma’s account to analyze and place the bets, I watched the matches as they were played, and our predictions proved to be accurate. On February 18, I called him to inform him of the same, but he told me that Betika had marked the bet as lost on their website.”

Kizito said that the website misrepresented the outcome of the match between FC Juarez and Leon, which resulted in a draw. He further affirms that he assisted his brother in getting in touch with Betika, who refused at paying the money and forced them into court.

He requests that the court issue an order requiring the business to pay him his Sh500,000 gains together with the interest that has accrued since February 18 and additional damages right away.
