ISJ Launches Responsible Gaming Week to Mark Its 12th Anniversary

Angola’s Institute of Gaming Supervision (ISJ) launched its Responsible Gaming Week from October 12 to 18, 2026, marking the institution’s 12th anniversary under the theme “ISJ – 12 Years Strengthening Supervision and Promoting Responsible Gaming.”

The initiative emphasizes that games and betting should be treated strictly as entertainment and not as a source of income, an investment, or a solution to financial difficulties.

ISJ’s campaign highlights key guidelines for players, such as recognizing that betting carries inherent risks and offers no guaranteed gains, maintaining balance by setting time limits, taking regular breaks, and ensuring gaming does not interfere with personal, professional, or family responsibilities, and making conscious choices about when to start and stop, always prioritizing well-being.

Demonstrating that responsible gaming extends beyond regulation and oversight to social commitment, ISJ has conducted various outreach activities in partnership with civil society.

On October 12, an ISJ delegation coordinated by Fernando Costa visited the Toxicodependents Rehabilitation and Reintegration Center (CRRT), supervised by the National Institute for the Fight Against Drugs (INALUD). Joined by Eng. Cláudio Pinto, president of the National Association for the Fight Against Drugs (ANLD), and goodwill ambassadors from the SOS School Project, the team shared prevention strategies, engaged with residents, and delivered donations to support their recovery.

Welcomed by Bishop Arnaldo Neves Kassumba, the delegation learned about residents’ experiences and the institution’s work, and delivered food donations to support those in its care.

On October 14, ISJ participated in the Final Gala of the Goodwill Ambassador Contest for the Fight Against Drugs, organized by ANLD under the SOS School Project. Opened by the State Secretary for Youth, Dr. Danila Bragança, and attended by the National Youth Council, Municipal Administrations, and the National Police, the event celebrated young leaders trained to champion drug prevention and healthy habits across schools and local communities.

Through these combined actions, ISJ reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding vulnerable populations and fostering a safer, more conscious, and supportive society through broader involvement in dependency prevention.
