Stefan, a sensational wing three-quarter, hails from a small Boland town, and has played rugby for the Natal Sharks, SA Barbarians and Springboks.
The versatile back, who operated from fullback, wing and centre, scored 19 tries for South Africa in 37 tests. He made his debut for the Springboks in June 1998 against Ireland, scoring four tries to tie a South African record. He later went on better by scoring five tries against Italy in June 1999. The ruthless finisher also played in two Rugby World Cups, making four appearances in 1999 and one in 2003.
At club level he made his debut for the Natal Sharks in 1999 and returned to the Sharks in 2007, following a four-year stint with the Ospreys.
