SportyTV Acquires Sub-Saharan African Rights To The 2024 Uefa Euro Cup

SportyTV, an African media outlet has secured a package of free-to-air rights in sub-Saharan Africa to cover the men’s national team soccer competition for the Uefa Euro Cup 2024. The UEFA European Championships in 2024 final tournament is scheduled to take place from 14 June to 14 July 2024.

In addition to airing the matches on its stations in Nigeria and Ghana, SportyTV will sublicense the rights to broadcasters in 25 more English- and Portuguese-speaking sub-Saharan African nations where it is not currently available for broadcast.

SportyTV will provide a customized feed including pre- and post-match coverage to all of its broadcasting partners as part of the sublicensing strategy.

The following countries are sublicensing territories: Angola, Botswana, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, St Helena and Ascension, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

On December 2, SportyTV will also broadcast live coverage of the Euro 2024 draw from Hamburg.

SportyTV will broadcast a daily Euro 2024 studio program from Lagos in addition to live match coverage. The show will be supported by an on-the-ground reporting crew in Germany, led by Michael Essien, a former player for Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Ghana.

The package purchased as part of the agreement with CAA Eleven, Uefa’s exclusive agency for men’s national team events, includes the opening match on June 14 in Munich, five group stage matches, two matches in the round of 16, two quarterfinals, one semifinal, and the July 14 final in Berlin.

SportyTV will now air the PFL World Championship in Washington, D.C. on November 24 and the PFL Europe final in Dublin, Ireland on December 8.

SportyTV previously aired the PFL Europe Playoff in Paris, France, in September.
