June 11, 2026 – SportyTV has secured the free-to-air rights to broadcast 34 matches from the FIFA World Cup 2026 across Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, bringing the world’s biggest sporting event to millions of football fans across three of Africa’s most important football markets.
The rights package includes 17 matches from the group stage and 17 matches from the knockout rounds, featuring some of the tournament’s most anticipated fixtures, including the opening match and the FIFA World Cup Final.
The acquisition represents another major step in SportyTV’s growth across the continent and reinforces its position as one of Africa’s leading sports broadcasters. By securing free-to-air World Cup rights across three key territories, SportyTV will make football’s biggest tournament accessible to more fans than ever before through a combination of television and digital distribution.
In addition to its free-to-air television coverage, SportyTV will stream all 34 matches live and free on its official YouTube channel, ensuring supporters can follow the action wherever they are and on any device. Fans will also be able to watch every match through the SportyTV app and the SportyTV OTT platform, further expanding access to the tournament across multiple screens and making the FIFA World Cup 2026 one of the most accessible sporting events ever delivered across these markets.
The matches themselves will be only one part of an ambitious editorial and production operation designed to bring fans closer to the tournament than ever before. From its state-of-the-art studios in Lagos, SportyTV will produce daily live programming throughout the competition, including special editions of its flagship show SportyLive, dedicated pre-match and post-match coverage, breaking news shows, expert analysis, exclusive interviews, feature programming and behind-the-scenes content. The operation will also be supported by SportyTV’s production hub in Madrid, creating a truly international coverage effort spanning Africa, Europe and North America throughout the tournament.
The channel’s presenters and pundits will be joined by internationally renowned guests from the worlds of sport and entertainment, creating a viewing experience unlike anything previously seen on the network. SportyTV will also deploy reporting teams across the United States, Mexico and Canada, delivering live reports, exclusive interviews, fan stories and on-the-ground coverage from all three host nations.

“This is exactly the type of opportunity SportyTV was created for,” said Elias Gallego, Vice President of Business Development, Marketing & Media at Sporty Group. The FIFA World Cup is the biggest sporting event on the planet, and our ambition is to make it available to as many fans as possible. Securing free-to-air rights across Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya allows us to reach millions of people through both television and digital platforms, while creating a World Cup coverage operation that matches the scale of the tournament itself.”
Gallego added: “We are investing heavily in production, talent, original content and on-the-ground reporting because we believe fans deserve much more than simply watching the matches. Our goal is to deliver the most complete, engaging and accessible World Cup experience ever offered to audiences across these territories.”
As part of its commitment to maximising accessibility, SportyTV is also working closely with leading broadcasters across the region. In Ghana, SportyTV will participate in a consortium led by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), while the network will also collaborate with state broadcasters and public media partners across its territories to amplify reach and ensure that as many fans as possible can experience the FIFA World Cup 2026. This approach reflects SportyTV’s belief that football’s biggest event should be available to everyone, regardless of platform or location.
With 34 matches live and free, comprehensive studio programming, world-class guests, dedicated reporters across North America and distribution spanning multiple platforms, SportyTV is preparing to deliver its most ambitious sports production ever and the most comprehensive FIFA World Cup coverage operations on the African continent.
