Betika Na Community Initiative Empowers Youth Through Meru Football Challenge

Betika, through its Betika Na Community initiative, recently launched and officially sponsored the inaugural third edition of the Meru Football Challenge, a premier multi-week tournament aimed at fostering youth development and nurturing grassroots talent.
The competition officially kicked off on Saturday, March 7, and ran through March 22, providing a competitive platform for male and female teams to showcase their skills in an energetic environment focused on regional community engagement and the growth of sports in Meru County. It featured 32 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams. The tournament progressed through group stages, a round of 16, and knockout phases before culminating in the finals at the end of the month.
This tournament is a central pillar of Betika’s broader initiative to expand its presence into regional markets, leveraging sports to build sustainable brand and engagement. In a commitment to gender equality and inclusion, the organizers, Betika Na Community, ensured equal prize distribution for both categories. The winning teams in each category received KES 1 million (€7,100), while the runners-up earned KES 500,000, and third-place teams received KES 250,000. The event was designed to showcase local talent in a fair and competitive environment.

The passion displayed on the field was recognized as a genuine celebration of both sport and community unity.
